Studio Bandwidth FAQ
How much bandwidth is required for streaming video into Studio?
  • This varies, depending on the video size of the webcast. In general, in order to generate high-quality video, a user needs an internet connection with at least 1 Mbps of available bandwidth. We recommend a connection of 2 Mbps or higher.
How does having multiple speakers at a location impact a presentation?
  • In general, bandwidth requirements increase linearly based upon number of presenters on a single network. For example, if three presenters are sending a 1 Mbps streams, the network will require at least 3 Mbps of available bandwidth.
What happens if one or more speakers has poor bandwidth?
  • There are several options when a speaker experiences bandwidth constraint. Studio provides the capability for lowering the bitrate of their stream only. In that case, the individual presenter’s video stream will be a lower quality than other presenters. In extreme cases, that speaker can use a phone line to present. Or, the issue impacts multiple users, the overall quality level for the webcast can be decreased.
What factors impact the available bandwidth at a site?
  • A large number of factors can affect bandwidth at a site, including the number of users on the network and what kind of content they are consuming.
How do I prevent issues from occurring during a live webcasts?
  • We recommend scheduling a tech test with the speakers ahead of the webcast to identify any potential bandwidth or computer issues.
